LA Is Up UP

Last post about was negative so let’s flip to something positive.

l like B A L A N C E so much I got it tatted on my left forearm to match with my daughter — who’s on her way back to the U.S. from Tanzania — and iMessaged me “im in amsterdam” as I was drinking a Coke with my patna Yello Blac (who’s behind Lets Experiment) at All City Jimmy’s Westside Boy 3 album release party at The Virgil in Hollywood.

All City Jimmy is aka MC Nocando has put in work in L.A. hip-hop circles over the years to earn the respect of peers. I came across him in The Guardian write-up on Sudan Archives while Wikipedia-ing her up ‘cuz she was on Coachella line-up or an adjacent party.

Her name definitely turned heads when I first heard it. Ironically, All City Jimmy said he hasn’t read the write-up (which doesn’t surprise me ‘cuz artist art and journalists uhh, report/journal).

This “Amazing” song definitely goes and so does the whole EP … Peace to my day uno Yello for telling me to pull up. Artist (re)discovery wins the day, on Juneteenth at that.

Not an easy fete after watching Ken & Friends from the comforts of the crib on Amazon Prime.
