BET Experience Sidelines: Just Be Chill And Tekno?

Fasho!

Black Los Angeles flexed on the world on Juneteenth with Ken & Friends.

Must see on Amazon Prime for the hood energy … Dom Kennedy popping out to do “When I Come Around” was a highlight for me personally - and above’s a quick video interview I once did with him about going to Djibouti of all places for a show.

Tim Hinshaw, the ex-head of R&B and hip-hop who branched out with his own Free Lunch Aagency, is a mastermind and just getting started. He booked Kendrick and 25+ other artists into the Kia Forum, and parlayed the Amazon Music livestream set-up with this one-off event into a new partnership with AEG Presents.

Dope shit.

BET Experience Sideline Plan

I feel like hopping an Amtrak to Oceanside or take my new silver Ford Fusion whip or FlixBus to Palm Springs, but looks like I’ll be in Inglewood on Saturday, June 29th, instead: Tekno with LIVE band.

See, the BET Experience offers a slate of concerts and celebrity-driven pop-outs to pop out to. I caught a concert at Crypto.com Arena with Summer Walker, H.E.R. and more a few years back with my daughter Maya.

This year, though: Inglewood up UP.

See, I’m a Tekno super fan.

Why, you ask? How about ‘cause this song, produced by Legendury Beats, London/Nigeria producers behind the mega hit “Essence” for Wizkid and Tems - whose album and NPR Tiny Desk are incredible.

Check out both the Tekno visual and the Tiny Desk, everybody knows Nigeria runs Afrobeats and Afro Pop globally. While “Not Like Us” putting on for L.A. and in my playlists for hooping and general aggression, I’m also really feeling this song by an artist named V2M I discovered on Spotify called “German Juice.”

It’s a banger - hey, so much so that I popped it onto the radar of a New Balance marketing exec spearheading the launch of American Football category launch of Klutch Athletics by New Balance.
